Multicultural counselling is counselling patients with consideration to their cultural beliefs and the effect culture can have on their treatment. Every person has their own culture regardless of where their background originates from. Establishing individual cultures is a way of accepting that person fully and paying attention to ways their particular culture may be a factor to the understanding of client and therapist. Multicultural Counseling attempts to smooth divides that are caused from issues surrounding nationality, religion and social class. By being aware of one’s own culture and understanding other’s cultures, this knowledge makes way for a more open flow of communication.
All problems are handled with this understanding and acceptance.
