Group Therapy

Every problem that is explored with individual therapy, may be explored in group therapy with one or more therapists facilitating. Some advantages of group therapy are defined by Yalom in his book on Theory and Practice of Group Psychotherapy; universality, altruism, instillation of hope, imparting information, corrective recapitulation of the primary family experience, development of socializing techniques, imitative behaviour. cohesiveness, existential factors, catharsis, interpersonal learning, and self-understanding. All these factors are beneficial to clients taking part in group therapy. Finally, group therapy may be cost effective.
